Its a new day in France

Well what a night.  We went to bed at about 8pm as thats as long as we could stay awake. We all had a very restless night and then at about 5 we could sleep no longer. Nate woke up full of beans and starving hungry!!  We had to contain him until 6 when we could go downstairs and get some breaky.

The small little cafe downstairs gave us the first taste of 'real' french food and it was delicious.  Also reminded us that we will need to keep active or else we will easily put on weight.

After breaky we decided to go to a walk to the local shopping centre for some supplies.  Was an odd journey as we seemed to have to walk in circles to navigate the footpaths.  Google maps said it was about 450 metres away and yet it was a couple of kilometres to walk there.

It was however well worth the walk in the end.  Didn't look like it was going to be good after we stopped at McDonalds for coffee and realised it wasn't like what we were used to at home.  The store was gorgeous, and came complete with a salad bar but the coffee was bad.

  Next stop was the supermarket called Auchan.  Wow it was fantastic.  Like Aldi but much more upmarket.  We bought Tony a new phone, a coffee machine complete with 100 pods, some sandwiches for lunch later and some beverages (pepsi max and some nice looking Cabernet Sauvignon).

  After a quick shuttle ride back to the hotel we packed up and hit the road.  Tony has settled well into driving on the wrong side of the road, and the Citroen has a great navigation system.  We decided to take the long way to our next accommodation so that we could get a quick look at the Palace of Versailles.  It was pretty easy to find, and when we turned into the street where we could get a good look at it the three of us all sighed in unison.  What a spectacular building it is - even from a distance.

We drove a bit further and found a nice little spot of the road to eat our lunch.  Hand and cheese sandwiches with poppy seed bread - yum again.  Our campsite was only another 30 mins away so we got there pretty quickly.  Its a tourist park in a little town called Maissons Lafitte.

  After booking in and unpacking we went back into the town to go to the local Carrefour to get some supplies and something for dinner.  We all chose pasta dishes and although they were so cheap they were totally yum.  Of course I needed something sweet so tried some fruity flavoured macarons!
